Once again Elmer, NE has completed another Labor Day weekend. There was a lot of history made. Ryan traded in the Titan
for a new pull type camper. Nick was caught on camera drinking a Bud Light. Ryan also got a new Chevy Truck to pull his camper
with and in the pictures below he was trying out the new 4X4 in it.
Justin Hudson, Elmer's new hero was swimming near by Lyle Butterfield while Lyle was giving his dog a shampoo. Justin looked up
and seen Lyle's dog jumping up and down on Lyle in the water. Justin thought this was very strange so he rushed over and seen Lyle
had had passed out and fell into the water. Justin pulled him out and he was not breathing and he could not get a heart beat. Justin
began CPR that he had learned in high school. Lyle then started choking and got the water out of his lungs and started breathing again.
Lyle's nephew ran to Elmer's camp site and told us that the man had fallen and quit breathing. The Mayor (Gary) Darren, and Ryan rushed
to the scene. When the mayor saw how bad Lyle looked he yelled up to Darren to get the ambulance on the way. Darren has a hand held radio
issued by the Cambridge Fire Dept. that he called into Beaver City on and they dispatched Cambridge Fire and Rescue.
The First Lady (Sharol) and Sherri came to the scene and took over care for Lyle while the Mayor went back and picked up Carrie.
Carrie is a RN and was able to take some vitals and relay to the mayor who relayed to Darren. Darren then radioed the ambulance
and gave them the information. By the time Cambridge Rescue got there Lyle was regaining his color and was starting to talk a little. Lyle
stayed in the hospital over night and was released the next day. A picture and story from the McCook Gazette is on the bottom of this page.
After all this was done it was time for the Mayor to put on the cream can supper. We had around 30 people. It turned out great.
The next day John debut a new cast iron skillet. It was about 3 feet around. He put several pounds of bacon and sausage in it and then
added 30 eggs . Wow that was a great breakfast.
Then next thing that happened was John and Carrie were taking down there tent and discovered a mouse had had babies right under their tent.
This went down as Elmer's first birth.
We ended the weekend with the shitter dump ritual.
